Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

I've been making mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving meals for several years now. This is a 2-person side portion of an extra garlicky mashed potato. Silky and well-spiced. For a family-sized side, double everything.

Nutrition: 1100 cal

Ingredients:

  1. 1 2/3 lbs gold/yellow potatoes
  2. 1 2/3 tbsp butter
  3. 3 1/3 tbsp heavy cream
  4. 1 tbsp whole milk
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. 1 ½ tsp pepper
  7. 1 tbsp garlic powder
  8. 1 tbsp 21 seasoning salute (optional)

Directions:

  1. Peel potatoes and cut into approximately equal sized pieces. Smallest potatoes should be cut in half, and all other chunks should be about that size.
  2. Drop potatoes into a pot and fill with cold water until the potatoes are about 1 inch under the surface.
  3. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce to simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  4. In the meantime, put the milk, cream, and butter in a small saucepan and heat on low until melted and combined.
  5. Once the potatoes are done, drain them and put them in a large bowl (or back in the empty pot). Add the dairy items and begin mashing.
  6. At some point, add the spices and continue mashing. Do not overmash, but taste and adjust as you go.
