Garlic Mashed Potatoes
I've been making mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving meals for several years now. This is a 2-person side portion of an extra garlicky mashed potato. Silky and well-spiced. For a family-sized side, double everything.

Ingredients:
- 1 2/3 lbs gold/yellow potatoes
- 1 2/3 tbsp butter
- 3 1/3 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp 21 seasoning salute (optional)
Directions:
- Peel potatoes and cut into approximately equal sized pieces. Smallest potatoes should be cut in half, and all other chunks should be about that size.
- Drop potatoes into a pot and fill with cold water until the potatoes are about 1 inch under the surface.
- Bring the water to a boil, then reduce to simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
- In the meantime, put the milk, cream, and butter in a small saucepan and heat on low until melted and combined.
- Once the potatoes are done, drain them and put them in a large bowl (or back in the empty pot). Add the dairy items and begin mashing.
- At some point, add the spices and continue mashing. Do not overmash, but taste and adjust as you go.
