Chicken Teriyaki
What's there to say? We wanted to make our own chicken teriyaki. So we went to our favorite Japanese cook online and adjusted the recipe to suit our needs.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken breast
- Sunflower oil
- Teriyaki sauce
--2 tbsp sake
--2 tbsp mirin
--2 tbsp sugar
--4 tbsp soy sauce
--4 tbsp water - Optional: Sesame seeds for sprinkling
Directions:
- Prep
a. In a small bowl, combine mirin, sake, sugar, soy sauce, and water to make Teriyaki sauce. Set aside.
b. Remove fat and ligaments from chicken breasts. Cut them into chunks. - Add oil to a frying pan and heat the pan on medium. Once it is hot, add the chicken.
- Cook the chicken for about 3 minutes, occasionally stir-frying.
- Cover with a lid for 3 minutes to steam the chicken.
- Drain off excess liquid. Sop up the rest with paper towels.
- Return the pan to the stove and add the Teriyaki sauce. Stir fry the chicken until the sauce is reduced by about half, spooning it over the chicken frequently. Once you see crystals forming and the sauce thickening, it’s done.
- Remove chicken. Serve by itself or with rice. Enjoy!
